Sunday Raises $165M Series B at $1.15B Valuation to Develop Multi-Task Household Robot

U.S.-based robotics startup Sunday has raised $165 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its valuation to $1.15 billion as it advances the development of a multi-task household robot.

The round was led by Coatue, with participation from major investors including Bain Capital Ventures, Tiger Global, Benchmark, and Conviction Partners.

Sunday is developing a household humanoid robot called “Memo”, designed to assist with everyday domestic tasks such as clearing the table, washing dishes, and handling laundry. The robot is powered by artificial intelligence and features an adjustable structure that allows it to move up and down along a central column, while maintaining smooth mobility on wheels.

According to CEO Tony Zhao, the company aims to begin real-home testing of the Memo robot before the end of 2026, allowing it to evaluate the robot’s performance in real household environments ahead of commercial deployment.

To train its system, Sunday developed a unique data-collection method in which volunteers wear a glove that mimics the robot’s hand while performing household tasks. This process enables the direct transfer of human experience to the machine through motion-based learning.

More than 1,000 individuals are currently on the waitlist to test the robot in real settings, where the company plans to evaluate its ability to perform tasks such as washing dishes and organizing clothes before launching it commercially.

Sunday emphasizes the importance of collecting real-world household data and adapting its technology to practical home scenarios, which the company considers the key bottleneck in building robots capable of reliably performing everyday domestic tasks, despite decades of attempts by companies in the robotics sector.
