Snap Inc. & Perplexity Announce $400M AI Integration Deal on Snapchat

Snap Inc. and Perplexity have announced a $400 million partnership to integrate Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine directly into Snapchat, marking the first large-scale integration of an external AI partner within the app.
Under the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million over one year—a combination of cash and equity—as both companies prepare for the global rollout in early 2026. Through this partnership, Snapchat’s community of nearly one billion monthly active users will gain a new way to ask questions, explore topics, and learn seamlessly within the chat interface.
Once launched, Perplexity’s answer engine will be embedded in Snapchat’s popular Chat interface, providing clear, conversational answers from verifiable sources without leaving the app. The collaboration underscores Snap’s expanding role as a trusted platform for AI innovators seeking to reach mobile-native audiences safely and at scale. Snapchat currently reaches over 943 million monthly users, including more than 75% of 13–34-year-olds across 25+ countries.
“Perplexity’s mission is to support the world’s curiosity,” said Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity. “Millions of people connect and discover the world through Snapchat. By bringing Perplexity to Snapchat, we’re able to serve that curiosity directly where it occurs.”
“Our goal is to make AI more personal, social, and fun – woven into the fabric of your friendships, Snaps, and conversations,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap Inc.
This collaboration marks Snap’s first step toward transforming Snapchat into a platform for top AI companies to connect with users in creative and trusted ways. Snapchatters will continue to use My AI, with Perplexity joining as an AI answer engine offering real-time, credible insights that enrich user exploration within the app.
