Runware Raises $50M in Series A Round

Runware, the startup specializing in AI tools for developers, has raised $50 million in a Series A round led by Dawn Capital, with participation from prominent investors including Comcast Ventures, Speedinvest, Insight Partners, and a16z Speedrun. This brings the company’s total funding to $66 million.
The company plans to use the funding to expand its infrastructure and develop its Sonic Inference Engine, aiming to support over 2 million AI models and grow its team. Runware’s ultimate goal is to become the central API for all generative AI models, enabling developers to access cutting-edge technology instantly and provide cost-effective solutions globally.
Founded in 2023 by Flaviu Radulescu and Ioana Hreninciuc, Runware empowers developers to generate images, videos, and audio in real time via a unified API, without the need for complex infrastructure or separate integrations. The platform supports over 400,000 open-source AI models, providing day-zero access to any new model immediately upon release.
Runware differentiates itself with flexible pricing based on the number of images or videos generated, rather than GPU compute time. This approach allows applications to control costs, scale their user base, and maintain healthy margins.
Flaviu Radulescu said: “We launched Runware to provide instant tools for developers to generate media content—images, videos, and audio—through a single interface, without needing new infrastructure.”
Ioana Hreninciuc added: “We aim to expand the platform to support over 2 million models, while keeping pricing competitive and enabling real-time access to any new model. This allows applications to scale to millions of users while maintaining margins.”
Runware has already powered more than 10 billion creations for over 200,000 developers, highlighting the platform’s rapid adoption and growth in the developer AI tools market.
