Rozenama Raises $150,000 in Pre-Seed Funding to Rebuild Platform and Expand Across Iraq

Iraq-based e-commerce startup Rozenama has raised $150,000 in a pre-Seed funding round, as it prepares to launch a rebuilt version of its platform and accelerate the expansion of its merchant network across the country.

The investment came from Iraqi entrepreneur Mohammed Haider, CEO of Aljasmi Perfumes. Rozenama plans to direct the majority of the capital toward engineering and the development of its upgraded platform, while accelerating merchant adoption across Iraqi governorates outside Baghdad.

Founded in Baghdad in 2022 by Abbas Muhil and Mohammed Fawzi, Rozenama provides e-commerce infrastructure tailored to the way Iraqi merchants sell and fulfill orders, integrating local delivery companies, payment methods and cash-on-delivery capabilities.

Digitizing Commerce for Iraqi Merchants

Rozenama is targeting a retail market where many businesses still rely on social platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp to sell products. For these merchants, online commerce can involve manually taking orders through direct messages, tracking inventory separately and coordinating deliveries without an integrated system.

Rozenama aims to consolidate these processes into a structured platform that allows sellers to manage their digital operations from one place. Its infrastructure has been developed around local market requirements rather than applying an e-commerce model designed for markets with different payment and logistics systems.

This includes support for cash on delivery, which remains part of the purchasing process for many Iraqi online shoppers, alongside integrations with local delivery providers and available payment methods.

By connecting these functions, Rozenama is seeking to help merchants move beyond social-media-based selling and operate more scalable online businesses.

Merchant Base Grows Beyond Baghdad

The startup says it has recorded significant merchant growth over the past year. Active sellers on the platform increased from 250 to more than 900 during the last 12 months, while Rozenama has surpassed 13,000 registered users.

Expansion outside Baghdad has become particularly important to that trajectory. According to the company, Iraqi governorates beyond the capital generated most of its growth over the past six months.

The fresh capital will help Rozenama build on that momentum by expanding merchant acquisition across additional parts of Iraq. Rather than concentrating solely on Baghdad’s larger commercial market, the company sees an opportunity to provide digital commerce infrastructure to retailers in areas where access to structured e-commerce tools may be more limited.

Rebuilt Platform Set for August 25, 2026

Engineering will account for a significant share of the pre-Seed investment as Rozenama prepares for the next iteration of its technology.

The startup plans to launch a fully rebuilt version of its platform on August 25, 2026. The financing will provide additional engineering runway to complete the rebuild and support the platform as the merchant base expands.

For Rozenama, the new product and geographic expansion form part of the same strategy: building an e-commerce system around Iraq’s existing logistics, payments and merchant behavior rather than requiring sellers to adapt to infrastructure designed for other markets.

With more than 900 active merchants already using its services, the startup will now focus on turning its early traction into a wider national presence while continuing to develop the technology supporting Iraqi online retailers.
