Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Eve Air Mobility Sign MoU to Advance Sustainable Air Mobility

H.E. Dr. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, affirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Eve Air Mobility reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong commitment to enhancing its position as a regional hub for aviation excellence and innovation. He emphasized that this strategic partnership marks a significant step toward making safe and sustainable aviation a reality in Bahrain, the Gulf region, and beyond.

The MoU was signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain and Eve Air Mobility, a company listed on both the New York Stock Exchange and São Paulo Stock Exchange, during the Gateway Gulf Investor Forum 2025. The collaboration aims to advance sustainable air mobility solutions and develop the ecosystem for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in Bahrain and the region.

The agreement seeks to accelerate regulatory, operational, and infrastructure readiness for advanced air mobility operations in Bahrain by establishing a testbed environment for new systems and developing safe, scalable Vertiports. It will also focus on zero-emission, low-noise operations and training local talents. The first test flights are expected to begin in 2027, followed by commercial operations in 2028, and international routes by 2029.

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, stated: “Signing this MoU with the Kingdom of Bahrain represents a historic milestone in our mission to promote sustainable air mobility in the Middle East. Bahrain’s vision to become a hub for innovation and clean transportation perfectly aligns with Eve’s commitment to reimagining the future of urban and regional mobility in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible way.”

Eve is currently exploring premium and tourism air transport routes across key regional cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Istanbul, and Manama, offering fast, convenient, and unique travel experiences for residents and visitors alike.

The company’s eVTOL aircraft are equipped with advanced technologies designed for the region’s climate, including UV and infrared protection, a smart air conditioning system, and a Lift & Cruise configuration that minimizes dust and sand impact—ensuring high reliability and passenger comfort even in extreme weather conditions.
