Anthropic Plans $10B Funding Round at $350B Valuation Ahead of IPO

Anthropic, the San Francisco–based artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, is planning to raise US$10 billion in a new funding round that could value the company at approximately US$350 billion, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal.

The round is expected to be led by Coatue Management alongside GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, with discussions ongoing and a potential closing within the coming weeks. The talks come amid growing speculation that Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) later this year.

This financing is separate from the previously announced US$15 billion investment commitment by Nvidia and Microsoft, tied to Anthropic’s purchase of US$30 billion in Azure-based computing capacity powered by Nvidia hardware.

Anthropic most recently closed a Series F round in September, raising US$13 billion at a valuation of US$183 billion, and secured an additional US$3.5 billion in March 2025. In 2024, the company raised US$8 billion from Amazon, its largest investor, while Google has invested approximately US$3 billion, holding around 14% of the company.

Founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic was established as a public benefit corporation with a focus on building AI systems with strong safety guardrails.

The potential funding round underscores the continued surge of capital flowing into AI, as competitors such as OpenAI reportedly pursue US$100 billion at a US$830 billion valuation ahead of their own public listing, according to TechCrunch.
