Reme-D Raises $1.45M in Pre-Series A Round

Reme-D Raises $1.45 Million Pre-Series A Round to Expand Affordable Molecular Diagnostics Across Africa and the Middle East
Egyptian biotech startup Reme-D.Inc has successfully closed a $1.45 million Pre-Series A funding round, led by Anara Impact Capital, with participation from Global Innovation Fund (GIF), Africa Health Ventures, and other investors. The funding will accelerate the company’s manufacturing expansion, regional growth, and the development of next-generation molecular diagnostic solutions.
Founded in 2023 by Salma Tammam, Reme-D develops and manufactures rapid, low-cost molecular diagnostic tests designed for underserved healthcare systems. The company’s portfolio includes diagnostic solutions for diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), HIV, hepatitis, and human papillomavirus (HPV), while leveraging proprietary technologies that enable test kits to remain stable at high temperatures without requiring cold-chain storage.
The newly raised capital will be used to expand Reme-D’s manufacturing capacity, accelerate regional expansion, and develop new diagnostic tests for genetic diseases and cancer. The company also plans to broaden its portfolio of heat-stable diagnostic solutions, making advanced medical testing more accessible in remote and resource-constrained communities. According to the company, the expansion is expected to significantly increase production capacity to meet growing regional demand.
The investment follows a $500,000 equity investment announced by Global Innovation Fund (GIF) in April 2026, which was intended to support Reme-D’s commercial scale-up, expansion into larger manufacturing facilities, and regulatory advancement across Africa and the Middle East.
Today, Reme-D has developed diagnostic solutions covering more than 30 diseases, has supported testing for over 500,000 patients, and serves more than 120 customers in Egypt. By manufacturing affordable diagnostics locally and eliminating dependence on refrigeration, the company aims to improve access to reliable healthcare diagnostics while strengthening the resilience of healthcare systems across emerging markets.
Commenting on the investment, Lily Steele, Managing Director at Global Innovation Fund, previously said:
“We are delighted to announce our investment in Reme.D, a company that is tackling one of the most fundamental gaps in African healthcare by manufacturing high-accuracy molecular diagnostics locally, affordably, and without dependence on cold chains. Reme.D has built an impressive track record of technical innovation, commercial traction, and genuine impact, and we are excited to support Salma and her team as they scale into new markets.
