The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, has announced its participation in a $200 million investment round for Lila Sciences, a U.S.-based startup specializing in developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platforms to support scientific research in life sciences, chemistry, and materials.
This move aligns with ADIA’s long-term strategy to focus on modern technologies and AI as key drivers of future economic and technological growth.
Founded in 2023, Lila Sciences aims to accelerate the development of autonomous laboratories powered by AI and robotics. The company’s technologies leverage intelligent automation to design scientific experiments and test hypotheses, enhancing innovation in research while reducing the time and cost required for complex studies.
These platforms serve as powerful tools for scientists and researchers, enabling new discoveries in fields such as medicine, chemistry, and materials science.
Alongside ADIA, the funding round saw participation from several prominent global investors, including: Blue Horizon Advisors, Modi Ventures, March Capital, ARK Venture Fund and General Catalyst
This investment reflects ADIA’s growing interest in AI and technological innovation. In recent months, the sovereign wealth fund has made several significant investments in this sector, including a $1 billion investment in Qlik, a data analytics company, and a $500 million investment in AlphaGen, which operates in the AI-for-energy space.
