The Government of Abu Dhabi has signed a multi-year sovereign cloud agreement with Microsoft and Core42, a G42 company specializing in AI infrastructure, sovereign cloud, and digital services.
This partnership aligns with Abu Dhabi’s $3.54 billion digital strategy for 2025-2027, enabling over 11 million daily government digital interactions through the sovereign cloud.
This announcement comes at the start of an official visit to Washington, D.C. by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Adviser. High on the agenda for his visit is the UAE’s access to advanced U.S. AI technology, including high-performance AI chips.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi, Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, and Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42. Abu Dhabi aims to become the world’s first AI-native government by 2027, automating 100% of its services. The government plans to deploy over 200 AI-driven solutions to improve public service delivery, operational productivity, and environmental sustainability.
Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud, powered by Microsoft Azure, will provide a secure and flexible infrastructure that enables the government to manage data seamlessly while ensuring digital sovereignty.
This step will enhance digital transformation and improve the experience of citizens, residents, and businesses interacting with government services.
