Dawraty Secures Qatar Development Bank Investment in USD 2 Million Seed Round

Kuwait-based education technology startup Dawraty has secured investment from Qatar Development Bank as part of a USD 2 million seed round, which is scheduled to close by the end of November 2026. The round is designed to support Dawraty’s expansion across healthcare education, professional certification, and exam preparation throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The fundraising carries significance through its combination of cross-border Gulf capital and regional expansion, with Qatar Development Bank serving as an institutional backer as Dawraty works to establish a commercial foothold in Qatar.
The deal also highlights a broader opportunity within the MENA education technology sector, particularly for learning infrastructures capable of serving both Arabic- and English-speaking audiences.
Strategic Growth in Healthcare and Professional Education
Dawraty focuses on medical and professional education, operating within a sector supported by growing demand for continuous training, certification, and exam preparation among healthcare institutions and professional bodies.
Rather than selling directly to individual learners, the company works through institutional partnerships, collaborating with universities, medical colleges, professional academies, and government bodies to deliver accredited education in both Arabic and English.
Founded by Dr. Ryan Dougherty and Hamad AlThunayan, Dawraty uses a master partnership and reseller agreement model to enter new markets.
The approach was demonstrated through the company’s recent contractual revenue secured through a master partnership and its reseller agreement with the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) in September 2026.
Dawraty currently operates across Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan, with partners including Kuwait University, University of Bahrain, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, and Johns Hopkins for continuing medical education.
A Platform for Cross-Border Expansion
Dawraty’s USD 2 million seed round values the company at USD 10 million, reflecting its growing presence across GCC markets.
The investment from Qatar Development Bank followed a detailed evaluation as part of its 2026 Accelerator Program, highlighting the role of development institutions in supporting regional growth.
The funding also reflects the broader expansion of education and training providers across borders and the growing need for platforms that can accommodate diverse linguistic requirements.
Positioned as a prominent player within the Digital Cooperation Organization ecosystem, Dawraty demonstrates how institutional partnerships can support market entry and growth.
With the seed round remaining open until November 2026, the company is positioned to attract additional co-investors to further develop its bilingual platform serving the healthcare and professional education sectors.
As the education landscape continues to evolve, Dawraty remains focused on turning existing partnerships into robust revenue streams while expanding into new markets.
