Berlin, Germany – Berlin-based workflow automation startup n8n has successfully closed a $180 million Series C funding round, bringing its valuation to $2.5 billion. The round was led by Accel, with participation from Meritech, Redpoint, Visionaries Club, NVentures (NVIDIA’s venture arm), and Deutsche Telekom’s T.Capital, alongside other strategic investors.

With this round, n8n’s total capital raised reaches $240 million, a funding milestone that will allow the company to deepen its AI capabilities, scale its enterprise automation platform, and expand its presence in the United States, which currently represents approximately 50% of its global user base.

Founder and CEO Jan Oberhauser emphasized the strategic importance of the investment, stating:
“The AI race isn’t just about smarter models. It’s about who can put that intelligence to work reliably inside real businesses.”

A Fair-Code Approach Driving Innovation

Founded in 2019, n8n emerged as a response to the limitations of rigid automation platforms such as Zapier and Make. The company’s mission was to combine developer-grade flexibility with user-friendly tools for non-technical professionals.

This vision gave rise to n8n’s “fair-code” licensing model, which blends open-source accessibility with commercial sustainability. This approach has fostered a vibrant community of over 200,000 active users and enterprise teams around the world, including Volkswagen, Delivery Hero, Decathlon, KPMG, Vodafone, and Twitch. These organizations rely on n8n for critical business automation workflows, demonstrating the platform’s ability to handle complex, mission-critical processes.

Smarter Workflows Through AI Orchestration

n8n differentiates itself from traditional no-code tools by providing complete control over workflow design via a node-based workflow builder. This allows users to build highly complex automations without sacrificing intuitiveness or flexibility.

The platform’s AI orchestration layer leverages large language models and AI agents, enabling users to construct workflows using natural language commands. This eliminates the steep learning curve associated with automation, allowing businesses to integrate AI quickly and efficiently.

Oberhauser explains:
“We’ve learned from our community that neither extreme—full AI autonomy nor rigid manual control—works for every business. Our platform gives teams the power to define their balance and adjust as they discover what works best.”

Bridging Teams and AI for Real Impact

n8n positions itself at the forefront of AI orchestration in enterprise workflows, connecting AI agents to business tools while ensuring human oversight and cross-functional collaboration.

“Without orchestration and coordination, organizations often get stuck. Engineers work in isolation, business teams provide feedback, and progress slows. n8n solves this by uniting everyone on a single platform,” Oberhauser noted.

Since its previous valuation of $350 million, n8n has seen annual recurring revenue surpass $40 million, with user adoption growing tenfold year-over-year, highlighting the accelerating demand for intelligent workflow automation.

Scaling Global Influence Through Funding

The latest Series C round marks a significant step in n8n’s evolution from a niche open-source tool to a global enterprise automation platform. Its hybrid model, combining open-source collaboration with enterprise-grade reliability, positions the company as one of Europe’s most promising software scale-ups.

Looking forward, n8n plans to enhance AI orchestration, enable seamless collaboration across teams, and introduce tailored interfaces to suit the workflows of different departments. Oberhauser envisions a future where AI-driven automation becomes as essential to business operations as spreadsheets once were.

“We’re building for a future where AI-powered automation becomes as indispensable as Excel was decades ago. Our mission is simple: make AI production-ready and accessible to everyone,” Oberhauser concluded.
