In a significant leap for AI-powered biotechnology, Tahoe Therapeutics has announced the successful raise of $30 million in a new funding round, aimed at building the largest-ever dataset for training artificial intelligence models to simulate human cells.

The round was led by Amplify Partners, with participation from prominent investors including Databricks Ventures, Wing Venture Capital, General Catalyst, Civilization Ventures, Conviction, AIX Ventures, and Mubadala Capital, the venture arm of Mubadala. This brings the company’s total funding to $42 million and its valuation to $120 million.

“We believe that the Tahoe-100M was a Mars landing moment for single-cell datasets,” said Nima Alidoust, CEO of Tahoe, referring to the company’s 100-million datapoint collection that maps how various cancer cell types responded to over 1,000 molecules. “Our core superpower is the ability to generate massive datasets at scale—this is what sets us apart in AI-driven drug discovery,” he added.

Tahoe’s work is powered by its innovative Mosaic platform, developed by cofounder Johnny Yu, which allows the company to gather cells from patients of diverse backgrounds and multiple organs in a single experiment—rather than relying on conventional methods that use cells from only one individual at a time. This approach enables the creation of massive single-cell atlases that reveal which drugs work for which patient groups.

With the new funding, Tahoe plans to expand its therapeutic programs and build a dataset exceeding one billion single-cell datapoints to accelerate the development of precision medicines for cancer and other diseases, while reducing clinical trial failure rates. The company also intends to select a strategic partner—either from the pharmaceutical or AI sector—to collaborate on new drugs or advanced drug discovery AI models.

“This is morning in biology,” Alidoust concluded. “We are building—and we hope others will build with us.”
