Wuilt, the ecommerce enablement platform headquartered in Cairo, has announced the successful closing of a $2 million funding round, led by follow-on investments from Flat6Labs and MTF VC. The round also saw participation from strategic backers including Hub71, JIMCO—the venture capital arm of Abdul Latif Jameel—Purity Tech, and a group of seasoned angel investors.

This new capital injection follows Wuilt’s pivot in April 2025, when Wuilt took the bold step of eliminating all subscription fees in Egypt. In doing so, it relinquished hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual recurring revenue to focus fully on merchant acquisition and long-term growth. Since that strategic shift, the platform has seen an influx of over 20,000 merchants, underscoring strong demand for accessible and affordable ecommerce tools in the region.

Founded in 2019 by Ahmed Rostom and Mahmoud Metwaly, Wuilt has redefined its monetization strategy by offering value-added services rather than relying on traditional subscriptions. These services include:

  • Wuilt Shipments
  • Wuilt Pay
  • Wuilt Wallet

“We didn’t pivot just to grow—we pivoted to make growth possible for everyone else,” said Ahmed Rostom, Co-founder and CEO.
“E-commerce in our region has always been gated by cost, complexity, and outdated thinking. We’ve removed those gates completely.”

With fresh funding in hand, Wuilt is gearing up to launch its free platform in the UAE in Q4 2025, followed by expansion into other GCC countries and Turkey in Q1 2026. The company is also actively developing a suite of AI-powered features designed to help merchants optimize operations, improve efficiency, and scale sustainably.

Looking ahead, Wuilt’s broader vision is to become the underlying infrastructure for small businesses and social sellers across emerging markets, beginning with the MENA region. By combining accessibility, smart technology, and deep local insight, Wuilt aims to unlock digital commerce for a new generation of entrepreneurs.
