WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, announced its official entry into the Saudi Arabian market, launching Robotaxi pilots and other self-driving solutions in major cities including Riyadh and AlUla.

The company said that Robotaxi services will be available on Uber in the coming months, with full commercial operations expected by the end of 2025, in collaboration with the Saudi Transport General Authority. This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to develop smarter, safer, and more sustainable urban mobility.

In parallel, WeRide is testing and deploying its Robobus in critical locations such as King Fahad Medical City, Aramco residential communities, The Ritz-Carlton Riyadh, and AlUla, addressing “last-mile” mobility and complementing the country’s public transport systems like Riyadh Metro.

Additionally, WeRide launched its autonomous cleaning vehicle Robosweeper S1 in King Fahad Medical City and Riyadh Health Cluster 2, marking the first commercial autonomous cleaning operation in the Middle East. With an area of 500,000 square meters, the site provides an ideal real-world environment for advanced automation.

This Saudi expansion builds on WeRide’s growing Middle East presence, following the region’s first fully unmanned Robotaxi trial in Abu Dhabi, and plans to scale operations to Al Maryah and Al Reem islands.

In May 2025, WeRide and Uber announced their strategic expansion to 15 more global cities over the next five years. This follows their joint Robotaxi launch in Abu Dhabi in December 2024, and the Dubai expansion in April 2025, reinforcing the partnership’s global momentum.
