Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has announced the launch of HUMAIN, a new AI company wholly owned by PIF, to establish Saudi Arabia as a global leader in artificial intelligence.
HUMAIN aims to develop and manage cutting-edge AI technologies and solutions while investing in the broader AI ecosystem. Chaired by the Crown Prince, the company will deliver advanced AI models and applications, including one of the most advanced Arabic-language large language models (LLMs), and build next-generation data centers and cloud computing infrastructure.
The company will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s capabilities in developing and deploying AI solutions at local, regional, and global levels, opening new frontiers for the digital economy and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for data and advanced technology.
This initiative is part of PIF’s broader efforts, along with several of its portfolio companies, to grow Saudi Arabia’s AI ecosystem through strategic investments and global partnerships, capitalizing on the Kingdom’s geostrategic location at the crossroads of three continents.
Saudi Arabia also benefits from a fast-growing economy and a young, tech-savvy population, which support efforts to build national expertise, research, and innovation in AI.
The Kingdom ranked first globally for government AI strategy according to the 2024 Global AI Index.
HUMAIN will coordinate and accelerate data center and AI hardware initiatives, while enabling the adoption of AI across strategic sectors such as energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.
The company also aims to promote local innovation, safeguard intellectual property, and attract top global investments and talent, helping realize the Kingdom’s ambition to become a global AI and data powerhouse.
