Dubai, UAE – Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global leader in critical digital infrastructure and business continuity solutions, has announced a comprehensive upgrade to its innovative Vertiv™ SmartAisle™ solution.

Designed specifically to support edge computing applications with capacities up to 180 kW, this update enhances efficiency and meets the evolving requirements of next-generation distributed data centers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

The pre-engineered SmartAisle™ system is now available throughout EMEA, offering an integrated solution that combines power, cooling, racks, and advanced monitoring and management capabilities in a single, unified unit.

This fully engineered system is built to simplify and accelerate the deployment of infrastructure for edge computing applications, in line with the latest European Union Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). The solution features power usage effectiveness (PUE) monitoring, enabling data center operators to precisely track and optimize energy performance while meeting rigorous environmental targets.

Giuseppe Leto, Senior Director IT Systems Business for EMEA at Vertiv, explained, “The enhanced Vertiv™ SmartAisle™ marks a transformative shift in the way businesses deploy edge computing solutions.

By streamlining the installation of multiple infrastructure components into one cohesive unit, we’re making it faster, more cost-effective, and significantly simpler for data center operators to meet both operational and regulatory requirements.”

Key features of the upgraded solution include:

  • 24/7 Advanced Energy Monitoring: Real-time tracking of energy consumption and capacity management.
  • Environmental Sensing: Precision monitoring with six sensors per server rack.
  • Modular UPS Systems: High-efficiency, uninterrupted power supply units.
  • Flexible Power Distribution: Options through power bars or floor-mounted power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Integrated rPDU: Unified power monitoring via rack-mounted power distribution units.
  • Adaptive Cooling Technology: Direct expansion cooling system with modulating capacity between 20% and 100%.
  • Enhanced Thermal Management: Improved thermal efficiency through cold aisle containment.
  • Robust Physical Security: State-of-the-art e-handles and IP cameras for enhanced onsite protection.
  • Scalable Architecture: Supports standardized deployment across multiple edge computing sites with N+1 redundancy for both power and cooling systems.

With this latest upgrade, Vertiv continues to solidify its position as the global pioneer in critical digital infrastructure solutions, providing the reliable, scalable technology needed to power the future of edge computing.
