Cairo, Egypt — BasharSoft, the company behind Egypt’s leading online job platforms Wuzzuf and Forasna, has announced the full acquisition of iCareer, Egypt’s premier consultancy specializing in large-scale employment programs and career solutions. The move is part of BasharSoft’s regional expansion strategy into Saudi Arabia, the GCC, and the broader MENA region, further solidifying its leadership in the JobTech and HR innovation space.

Founded in 2009 by Ameer Sherif and Ahmed El Sharkawy, BasharSoft has built a robust ecosystem that connects over 9 million job seekers with 100,000 employers, facilitating 1.4 million successful hires across its platforms. The company’s mission is to create a more efficient labor market by addressing unemployment, workforce readiness, and skills mismatch through technology and data.

iCareer, founded in 2012 by Nevine Magdy, Akram Marwan, and Mohamed Farag, has a strong track record of delivering large-scale employability and career guidance programs across Egypt and the Gulf. Its partnerships include leading universities such as AUC, Ain Shams University, and Universities of Canada in Egypt, as well as top-tier employers like Vodafone, PepsiCo, Hassan Allam Holding, and Procter & Gamble, in addition to international organizations including the ILO, UN, GIZ, and CFYE.

Combining BasharSoft’s technology and data with iCareer’s field expertise creates a powerful synergy,” said Ameer Sherif, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of BasharSoft. “With iCareer joining our group, we are not only deepening our local impact but also expanding across Saudi Arabia, GCC, and the wider Middle East and Africa.

As part of the deal, BasharSoft also acquired Recruitera, Egypt’s first Applicant Tracking System (ATS SaaS) developed by iCareer. Recruitera will be fully integrated with Wuzzuf and Forasna to streamline the recruitment experience and enhance job matching powered by AI and data analytics.

Now with the scale of Wuzzuf and Forasna network of employers, this matchmaking is 10x larger, creating an impact on job creation and youth employment like never before,” commented Akram Marwan, Co-founder and CEO of iCareer.

Through this acquisition, BasharSoft and iCareer aim to empower 100 million people by 2030, providing integrated employability, recruitment, and training solutions across the region. The company continues to drive innovation in employment technology while playing a key role in shaping public policy and labor reform across Egypt and the wider MEA region.
