The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in collaboration with Amazon, has announced the launch of the world’s most comprehensive Digital Arabic Library, unveiled during the Congress of Arabic and Creative Industries. Over the next three years, thousands of Arabic eBooks and audiobooks will be made available through the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), in a groundbreaking initiative to expand global access to Arabic literature and culture.

Through this partnership, Amazon will introduce a dedicated Arabic storefront on its platform, enabling millions of customers worldwide to discover and engage with Arabic literary and cultural content in a single destination. Leveraging Amazon Ads solutions and AWS cloud computing, combined with ALC’s publishing expertise, the storefront will showcase works from across the Arab world, bridging technology with heritage.

The initiative directly supports ALC’s mission to promote Arabic readership globally, safeguard the accessibility of Arabic heritage, and engage younger generations through modern digital formats such as Kindle and Audible. With over 400 million Arabic speakers worldwide, this project unlocks new opportunities for publishers and authors to connect with readers across regional and diaspora markets.

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, stated: “This collaboration represents a milestone in our mission to elevate Arabic literature and champion our national language. Leveraging Amazon’s global reach and expertise, the partnership provides a gateway for readers everywhere to experience the depth and diversity of written Arabic, embedding Arabic culture into global cultural dialogue.”

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President at Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey, added: “The Arabic language is a pillar of our culture and identity. By uniting our stores, Amazon Ads, and AWS cloud services, we are creating the most comprehensive Digital Arabic Library on Amazon. Together, we are combining technology and culture to inspire readers and creators across the Arab world and share the beauty of Arabic globally.”
