Doha, Qatar – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced a one-week closure of Talabat services, following violations of Articles (7) and (11) of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive regulations, under Ministerial Decision No. (29/2025).

The Ministry clarified that the decision was taken after repeated and substantiated complaints against the company, which involved the practice of presenting or describing goods with false or misleading information, leading to consumer deception, wrongful collection of funds, and failure to guarantee the service.

In an official statement, the Ministry said: “The decision was made due to repeated violations and multiple substantiated complaints against the company. These practices constitute an infringement of consumer rights and a breach of the applicable laws and regulations in the State of Qatar.”

The announcement coincided with app downtime on Wednesday morning, as users reported slow performance and loading failures at around 10:50 a.m. local time.

The Ministry stressed that this measure is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen market oversight and ensure that service providers comply with applicable laws and regulations. It emphasized that it will not tolerate any violations that could harm consumer rights or negatively impact the country’s business environment.
