Manibux, Turkey’s first digital pocket money application, was founded in 2016 by Canan Akmanoğlu Bayrak to promote financial literacy among children aged 8–18 through prepaid digital allowance cards, a digital piggy bank, and parent-controlled transfers.
According to the application filed with the Turkish Competition Authority on August 25, 2025, the majority stake in Manibux will be transferred to the Insha Venture Capital Investment Fund, managed by Albaraka Portföy Yönetimi A.Ş.
As published by the Competition Authority, Insha Ventures, the fintech investment arm of Albaraka Türk, has acquired the majority stake in Manibux. This strategic acquisition is expected to pave the way for a dedicated digital banking channel for younger generations, ensuring that children introduced to the brand at an early age remain within the Albaraka ecosystem as they grow older.
Founder and psychological counselor Canan Akmanoğlu Bayrak emphasized that her vision has always been to enable children to manage their own budgets from an early age, inspired by her dual perspective as both a mother and a counselor.
