UK-based Paragraf, a leading private technology company specializing in advanced electronics, has announced securing $35 million in investment from Mubadala Investment Company as part of a $55 million funding round. Under the deal, Mubadala acquired a 12.8% stake in the company.
Paragraf plans to establish new subsidiaries in the Middle East, China, and the United States, reinforcing its global expansion strategy and scaling production to meet the demands of major commercial markets.
The company develops graphene-based semiconductors, a breakthrough technology enabling devices to be smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient than traditional silicon-based alternatives. This innovation has wide applications in quantum computing, electric vehicles, energy storage, and medical and chemical sensors, including early disease detection and the development of new cancer treatments.
Dr. Simon Thomas, co-founder and CEO of Paragraf, stated:
“This investment is a strong signal of confidence in Paragraf. We’ve attracted strong interest and are pleased to have secured the backing of both new and existing partners who share our vision for transforming electronics with graphene.”
Notably, the company came close to halting operations due to a six-month UK national security review that delayed foreign investment, before the funding was finalized at the last minute.
