Meta has signed a strategic licensing agreement with Midjourney, the AI startup renowned for its aesthetic image and video generation technology, to integrate its solutions into Meta’s upcoming AI models and products.
According to Alexandr Wang, Meta’s Chief AI Officer, the partnership will include direct collaboration between the two companies’ research teams to deliver innovative solutions. Wang noted: “To ensure Meta is able to deliver the best possible products for people it will require taking an all-of-the-above approach. This means world-class talent, ambitious compute roadmap, and working with the best players across the industry.”
The move highlights Meta’s push to enhance the quality of its AI-powered visual outputs, positioning itself against rivals such as OpenAI and Google. Meta has already launched its own AI tools, including Imagine for image generation and Movie Gen for video creation.
While terms of the deal remain undisclosed, Midjourney CEO David Holz emphasized that the company remains fully independent with no outside investors, reinforcing its unique position in the global AI landscape.
