The International Center for AI Research & Ethics (ICAIRE), based in Riyadh, has launched the second edition of the “Elevate” initiative, in collaboration with Microsoft and with the support of the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), aiming to train 5,000 women globally in artificial intelligence (AI).

This builds on the success of the first edition, which trained 1,000 women, and is part of a larger strategy to empower 25,000 women in AI around the world.

The initiative was announced by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Tariq Habeeb, Acting Director of ICAIRE, during a panel session at the 3rd Global Forum on the Ethics of AI held in Bangkok and organized by UNESCO.

He highlighted the center’s efforts in advancing AI ethics research, issuing recommendations, and fostering international dialogue on the responsible use of AI technologies.

Dr. Habeeb emphasized the importance of inclusion as a catalyst for innovation, noting that empowering women and enhancing their participation in AI is a key driver of progress. He stressed that the Elevate initiative plays a pivotal role in increasing the number of female AI specialists globally.

The program offers a comprehensive AI training curriculum, emphasizing ethics and global best practices. It includes interactive workshops, courses, and mentorship sessions delivered by certified trainers, totaling 26 training hours over 6 weeks.

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation and a scholarship to apply for the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification (AI-900).
