Egypt’s AgriCash Secures Pre-Seed Funding to Scale Digital Financial Inclusion in Agriculture
Egypt-based agri-fintech platform AgriCash has closed a pre-seed investment round led by Alex Angels, one of Egypt’s leading angel investor groups, alongside several strategic investors committed to enhancing financial inclusion and driving digital transformation in the agricultural sector.
Founded by Dr. Diaa Youssef and Dr. Mostafa El-Sehli, AgriCash aims to solve the chronic funding gap faced by millions of smallholder farmers in Egypt. Since 2016, traditional agricultural financing has diminished, excluding many farmers due to religious considerations, complex bureaucracy, and banks’ high-risk perception.
AgriCash offers an interest-free Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) model, enabling farmers to obtain agricultural inputs and repay after harvest without incurring any interest or debt.
In addition to financing, the platform provides AI-powered technical support to help farmers improve productivity, along with free crop insurance to mitigate unexpected losses.
To date, AgriCash has onboarded over 1,500 active farmers, collaborated with 60 certified suppliers, and listed more than 750 agricultural products on its platform. Through awareness campaigns and community outreach, the company has reached over 100,000 offline farmers, helping to build trust and improve digital literacy in agriculture.
By combining financing, AI-powered support, insurance, and market access, AgriCash is building a comprehensive, tech-enabled ecosystem that connects farmers with banks, exporters, insurers, and agri-tech experts—driving inclusive and sustainable farming.
Dr. Diaa Youssef, AgriCash’s Co-Founder and CEO, stated:
“AgriCash is the first fully integrated agri-finance system combining funding, insurance, and technical support in a unified solution.”
Louay El-Shawarby, Co-Founder of Alex Angels, added:
“AgriCash is targeting a massive market gap with a visionary founding team and a strong plan for regional expansion.”
With this funding, AgriCash will scale its operations across Egypt and strategically enter new regional markets, while also accelerating the execution of its technology roadmap, especially the development of AI-based support tools aimed at improving farmers’ productivity. These steps represent a major milestone in AgriCash’s mission to become the leading agri-fintech platform in emerging markets, empowering farmers through innovation, inclusion, and sustainable growth.
