RIYADH – BOSTON: During the BIO International Convention in Boston, Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih, Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development, officially launched the “Ministry of Health Biotech Accelerator Program” in partnership with BioLabs.
The initiative aims to promote innovation, expand global partnerships, and empower Saudi companies to enhance the quality of healthcare services.
It aligns with the Health Sector Transformation Program and the National Biotechnology Strategy under Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to build a thriving society, a prosperous economy, and position the Kingdom as a global hub for health innovation.
The first cohort includes eight Saudi biotech startups:
- Plansulin: Producing plant-based insulin
- cellNUA: Developing bee-derived nanotherapies
- SAGEbio: Vaccine manufacturing
- Novo Genomics: Genetic diagnostics
- MammoStem: Regenerative medicine solutions
- NanoPalm: Treating genetic disorders
- KaRama Bio: Early diagnostics
- PhageTech: Tackling antibiotic resistance
The seven-month program offers tailored training, guided support tracks, and access to advanced research labs. This is the Kingdom’s first biotech-focused accelerator and BioLabs’ first initiative in the Middle East.
The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its commitment to empowering national talent and strengthening the innovation ecosystem in healthcare, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in biotech.
