In a landmark step to boost Egypt’s startup ecosystem, Alex Angels, one of the country’s leading angel investment groups, has launched Egypt’s first digital platform dedicated to tracking the valuations of venture-backed startups, according to Al Mal newspaper.
Tariq Al-Qadi, the group’s co-founder, explained that the platform aims to establish an objective mechanism for monitoring valuation changes of startups within their investment portfolio, while also providing advanced technological tools for more effective management.
The platform was initially piloted with Alex Angels investors and will soon be available to other funds and investment groups. A new tool is also being developed to track investment value, featuring advanced analytics, automated valuation tracking, and forward-looking insights—a move that reinforces the group’s commitment to empowering investors with cutting-edge resources.
The platform allows for the input and documentation of unrealized investment valuations, as well as returns recorded from actual exits, enabling investors to evaluate portfolio performance using real data—rather than relying on the tool to make exit decisions.
Al-Qadi revealed that Alex Angels is currently considering investments in three new startups, with plans for a partial exit from two companies by the end of 2025. The group typically provides funding between EGP 2 million and 5 million per startup.
With over 70 experienced angel investors, Alex Angels has played a key role in supporting early-stage startups in Egypt, and has recorded returns ranging from 1x to 8x through two full exits and three partial ones.
