India’s SatLeo Labs Raises $3.3M to Advance Space-Based Thermal Imaging Technology

SatLeo Labs, an Ahmedabad-based spacetech startup, has secured $3.3 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Merak Ventures, with participation from Huddle Ventures, GVFL, Java Capital, IIMA Ventures, PointOne Capital, and angel investors Manish Gandhi and Dheer Baldua.

Founded in 2023 by Shravan Bhati (CEO), Urmil Bakhai (Chief Strategy Officer), and Ranendu Ghosh (CTO), SatLeo Labs is developing high-resolution thermal and visible imaging systems from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to deliver actionable insights across sectors like agriculture, energy, urban planning, and strategic defense surveillance.

The funds will be utilized to advance the development of SatLeo’s proprietary thermal imaging payload, obtain regulatory approvals, expand the team, and enhance technical infrastructure.

SatLeo Labs aims to launch its first thermal imaging satellite in the near future, further solidifying India’s position in commercial space technology
