Mataa, the Libyan e-commerce platform, has successfully closed a Seed investment round with participation from a group of Libyan businessmen. The value of the round was not disclosed.

The funding is expected to enhance Mataa’s operational capacity, including first and last-mile services, expanding its central warehouse, and increasing the number of suppliers and product categories offered on the platform.

The round will also enable the platform to attract regional talent with expertise in e-commerce to support its future expansion plans.

Launched officially in 2023 by Ibrahim Al-Shuwaihdi and Habib Nino, the platform currently offers over 50,000 products from 570 brands available through its mobile application, according to the company’s official website.
